Inverter / variable speed screw compressors
By using a variable speed drive (also known as an inverter drive), energy efficiency can be increased by an average of about 35% compared to screw compressors without a variable speed drive. By using this technology, we enable the compressor to change its output (amount of air) to the consumers.
A variable speed compressor can operate at low speeds when air consumption is low, unlike a fixed-speed compressor that operates at a constant speed regardless of actual air consumption. This capability enables energy savings and extends the life of the compressor.
Permanent magnet screw compressor
In recent years, EL-AV Compressors has introduced electric motor technology referred to as "permanent magnet" for use in certain models of the inverter screw compressors it manufactures. Using this technology enables an improvement of about 15% in compressor performance and energy consumption compared to a similar screw compressor operating with an "induction" or asynchronous motor, or up to a 50% improvement compared to a similar screw compressor with no inverter.
A permanent magnet motor with RPM variation is much better (high flexibility) than a standard motor; its efficiency at minimum and maximum output is also significantly better, as well as its working temperatures. All of these combined lead to an improvement in compressor performance and energy consumption.
