Inverter / variable speed screw compressors
By using a variable speed drive (also known as inverter drive), energy efficiency could be increased by an average of about 35% as opposed to screw compressors without variable speed drive. By using this technology, we enable the compressor to change its output (amount of air) to the consumers.
A variable speed compressor can operate at low speeds when air consumption is low, as opposed to a fixed speed compressor that works at constant speed, regardless of actual air consumption. This capability enables energy savings and extension of compressor life.
Permanent magnet screw compressor
In recent years, EL-AV Compressors has introduced the electric motor technology referred to as “permanent magnet”, for use in certain models of the inverter screw compressors it manufactures. Use of this technology enables an improvement of about 15% in compressor performance and energy consumption compared to a similar screw compressor operating with an “induction” or asynchronous motor, or up to 50% improvement compared to a similar screw compressor with no inverter.
A permanent magnet motor with rpm variation is much better (high flexibility) than a standard motor; its efficiency at minimum and maximum output is also significantly better, as well as its working temperatures. All of these combined lead to improvement in compressor performance and energy consumption.
