Project Description:
- Initial meeting, tour to understand the air system, analysis of the current situation, collection of relevant information, and understanding the new requirement.
- Performing calculations and analysis of the existing and new situation, selecting products that meet the needs, focusing on the highest possible energy efficiency.
- Preparing a relevant price quote for the customer, including an ROI outlook and recommendations for further improvements/upgrades in the compressor room.
- Receiving an order from the customer and starting the installation planning at the customer's site, paying attention to crucial details to enable the system to work as efficiently as possible.
Summary:
We carried out an extensive upgrade of the compressor room. The core of the upgrade was replacing a fixed-speed screw compressor that served as a backup in case of a malfunction and as an aid when there was insufficient air. We upgraded the compressor to the most efficient series in our portfolio and one of the most efficient technologies available in the market, the ELGD-TS125HP model, a two-stage screw compressor with two motors using permanent magnet technology, a separate motor for each stage! This compressor is driven by a variable speed/frequency drive to allow it to adjust its output to the actual air demand. The mentioned compressor delivers about 742 CFM (approx. 21,000 liters per minute). For comparison, a competing compressor with identical motor specifications and a single compression stage delivers about 601 to 636 CFM (approx. 17,000 to 18,000 liters per minute), about 15% to 20% less air at the same motor output. In terms of annual electricity costs, this translates to a difference of about $10,000 to $11,400 (approx. 35,000 to 40,000 ILS) compared to the competing compressor. Additionally, we upgraded the filtration system to EF series line filters and the drainage system to smart drains that discharge liquids only, without air. Upgrading the drainage system saves energy wasted in air discharge, which in an air system of this scale can amount to about $2,850 (approx. 10,000 ILS) per year, and even more, depending on the number of installed drains.
